The hotline allows the deactivation and decommissioning community to post problemsin a specific deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) area and get solutionsfrom the subject matter specialists. Users can also search for previously publishedproblems and their solutions.
Technology provides information on deactivation and decommissioning related technologies including roboticsand any associated demonstrations. It provides technology descriptions, benefits,limitations, and associated links and documents. It also provides vendor information,technology and demonstration fact sheet reports, and search capabilities.
The custom deactivation and decommissioning web crawler searches and retrieve informationfrom deactivation and decommissioning related websites. The crawler provides theuser with a listing of best-matching web pages, usually with a short summary containingthe document's title or parts of the text.
The mobile system component provides access to important D&D KM-IT features through wireless devices. The D&D community users can access the following modules from their mobile devices: vendor directory, specialist directory, hotline, technology information, picture library, lessons learned and best practices, and the fixative module.
Lessons learned provides a repository of documents published by the deactivation and decommissioning community users. This allows them to share their experience withthe community.
Best practices provides a repository of deactivation and decommissioning best practicesdocuments that the user community can upload to the system.
The video/picture library allows community users to upload deactivation and decommissioningtechnology and demonstration videos and pictures to the deactivation and decommissioningKM-IT system. The videos and pictures could then be viewed by the decommissioningand dismantlement community.
Weekly reports published by the ALARA center include the status of the deactivation and decommissioning activities that have taken place at various centers. It includesthe list of ALARA center activities for consecutive weeks. This feature makes thereports available to the entire deactivation and decommissioning user community.
The specialist directory provides a directory of deactivation and decommissioningexperts in different areas along with their contact information. The user can searchthe specialist directory by name or by area of interest.
Vendor management provides a directory of deactivation and decommissioning vendorsalong with their contact information.
D&D Research for DOE EM highlights the recent, current, and ongoing research being performed by and for DOE EM as well as international D&D research to support the high priority D&D needs to bring the remaining cleanup projects to completion in support of site closure. This research includes activities at and through collaborations with academic universities, national laboratories, DOE contractor facilities, and other organizations.
The training component provides training videos related to deactivation and decommissioningwork, ALARA Centers’ training material and custom training for the deactivation and decommissioning community.
